The work juxtaposes the beauty and power of starling murmurations and bird flight with the quietness of a vast flock of still white birds. In our present geologic epoch, the Anthropocene, all natural systems have been affected by the activity and encroachment of humans. Many bird species are on the brink of extinction due to loss of habitat and climate change. Luchetti’s work is filtered through the context of her everyday landscape- birds, branches, birdbaths become her vehicles for addressing the interconnectivity of life on the planet and today’s grim reality of species die-offs and extinctions.
