The Luminists: Captive in the White House

Created in residency at Experimental Television Center during OPERATION DESERT SHIELD, “Captive in The White House” was a real-time reaction to the American media’s preoccupation with war, sports, and the cult of the president. The Luminists were a media art duo (Charles Cohen, audio & Eric Schefter, video) active between 1990 -1996, who performed electronic sound and video live. Utilizing computer controlled video feedback and audio synthesizers, they improvised and composed real-time works.
